# Introduction
Mirae WAVE is a light-weight, easy-to-use 3D visualization tool with rich professional-level feature sets for data analysis, that can handle large grid datasets used by meteorologists, atmospheric scientists and oceanologists.

With Mirae WAVE, different types of meteorological data can be visualized together using multiple layers, projected onto the 3D globe model using either spherical or orthogonal coordinate systems. You can create horizontal or cross-sectional charts with iso-value contour lines, animate wind vectors and streamlines, and even show the data with 3D iso-surfaces or volumetric rendering. Intuitive and easy-to-use UI controls are provided for camera control such as zoom/pan/rotation, turning on/off individual layers, and manual/automatic control of animation over time. Furthermore, users can customize various characteristics of the layers, charts and displays, so that they can satisfy their own requirements.
Anyone can download and install Mirae WAVE without any cost, and try it free for 14 days of evaluation period. Refer to the '[Installation](2-1-installation)' section for more details.

### Target Users
Mirae WAVE was originally developed for the meteorologists in Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), in order to help them to analyze NWP model data and to make better weather forecast. A variant of Mirae WAVE, named 'GloView', has been used for analyses on daily basis in the numerical forecast department of KMA for many years.
Mirae WAVE was mainly developed for the researchers and specialists, who works for meteorological administrations, weather forecasting TV stations and other companies in weather forecast industry, and academic research organizations. It provides high-quality graphics and imageries comparable to the results of expensive tools used in some weather forecasting companies and TV stations, at a very low cost. Its easy-to-use interface and simple workflow also allow users to use Mirae WAVE for educational purposes.
### System Requirements
Mirae WAVE is light-weight and runs very fast on any decent Windows machines with 3D graphic cards, including modern Windows laptops.

# How to install Mirae WAVE
### 1. Download
Visit [www.miraeclimate.com](http://www.miraeclimate.com/hp/product/mirae_wave.html), and download the installation file of the latest version of Mirae WAVE.

### 2. Install
Click the downloaded installation file, and just follow the steps of the setup wizard.

### 3. Run
Mirae WAVE will be started at the end of successful installation. You can also start Mirae WAVE later on from the Windows "Start" menu, if you have not changed the defaults of the setup wizard.

Note that you can use Mirae WAVE without any cost for 14 days of evaluation period. Mirae WAVE will still work even after the evaluation period expires, but a transparent watermark image will show up on top of the screen and some features will be restricted. If you want all the features of Mirae WAVE without any restriction, you have to [purchase a license](2-3-license).
Also note that you cannot distribute/publish/broadcast the images and videos created by Mirae WAVE without our software license. If you purchase a license, you can use the images and videos without any restrictions, as long as you credit Mirae WAVE for the original creation in an appropriate manner.
### FAQ
* You can update Mirae WAVE any time, by downloading & installing the latest version.
* New installations will not change anything from your data or user settings.
* Installing Mirae WAVE from scratch won't extend your evaluation period.
* You need data to make use of Mirae WAVE. We provide some [sample data](2-2-sample-data) produced by KMA.
* Your [license](2-3-license), if successfully registered, won't be affected by the installation of the latest version.
* Mirae WAVE is installed at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mirae WAVE".

# How to get sample data
You can download a part of the latest global dataset, which was produced by Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).
Visit our [Mirae WAVE website](http://www.miraeclimate.com/hp/product/mirae_wave.html), scroll down to find _Download sample data files_ section. Unfolding the section will reveal two sample data files with _Free Download_ button for each.

# How to purchase a license
Anyone can download & install Mirae WAVE without any cost, and try it free for 14 days of evalution period. But if the evaluation period expires, a watermark image will show up on top of the _Rendering Pane_, and some features will be restricted. If you want to use Mirae WAVE without any of those restrictions, you have to purchase a license, following the steps below.
### 1. Visit our website for the latest information
Visit [Mirae WAVE webpage](http://www.miraeclimate.com/hp/product/mirae_wave.html#purchase), and look for the list of our sales agents. You need to select one of our sales agents and partners, depending on your location.

### 2. Contact our sales agent, and make a purchase
Contact the agent you selected by email. The official price of the license is **$ 5,000 (USD)**.
Additional discounts are available for group purchases. Please contact the agent for more information.
Follow his/her instructions for payments, if you want to make a purchase. After the purchase, you will be given a **_Authorization Key_** for your license, which is a 12-character string.
### 3. Perform "License Registration"
Once you have received your _Authorization Key_, you need to perform **_License Registration_** in Mirae WAVE program.
Start Mirae WAVE, click the top-left menu category in Mirae WAVE, and select _License Registration_. Enter your _Authorization Key_ into the dialog and then click "OK", and then you will be notified with a message of successful registration. Later on, you can always check the detail information of your license from the same menu.

Note that you need internet connection in order to complete _License Registration_. If it fails for whatever reason, please contact your sales agent.
### 4. Ask for "License Reset", only if necessary
Note that you can activate your license and use Mirae WAVE on a single computer. If you want to change computers for Mirae WAVE, or your license was removed somehow, then you need to contact your sales agent and ask for **_License Reset_**, so that you can perform _License Registration_ again with the same _Authorization Key_.
### FAQ
* Mirae WAVE license is for a single computer, without restrictions on the number of users.
* You need internet connection for _License Registration_.
* After successful registration, the menu _License Registration_ will be changed to _License Information_.
* You can ask for _License Reset_ as many times as necessary.

# UI components & terminologies
When you first start Mirae WAVE, this environment consists of the following elements (by default):

##### 1. The **Menu Bar** contains menus for controlling and rendering 3-D images.

* Commands can be represented as buttons on the *Quick Access Toolbar*. You can customize the toolbar to include any command that you use frequently by right-click on **Menu Bar** area.
* The *Title Bar* displays the name of the active layer.
* When you click the *Mirae WAVE Button*, commands related to opening files (or directories), saving images, options for program configuration, and license registration are displayed.
* By default, *Menu Categories* contains *Home*, *Layer*, and *Window* categories, with *Home* is active. When you later add another layer, then its corresponding category, such as *Horizontal Plane*, is displayed. You can click a certain category to display its corresponding *Ribbon*.
* The *Ribbon* contains panels for controlling display options and working with the program. Each *Panel* contains buttons which are functional organized.
* The *Tab Menu Bar* contain buttons for activating cursor-picking, hiding/showing *Ribbon* menu, on-line user manual, and program information.
##### 2. The **Variables Pane** displays list of variables after you import your numerical data.
##### 3. In **Area Pane**, you can choose and control the region (map area) of the gridded layer.
##### 4. In **Rendering Pane**, you can display meteorological data in single or multiple layers.
##### 5. The **Layers Pane** displays and manages the layer list.
By default, it displays and activates *Background Map* and *Borderlines Map* layers.
##### 6. The **Actions Pane** displays the history of actions related to the current selected layer.

# Opening data files (and how to use Variables Pane)
### 1. Opening data files.
You can load and display the meteorological data from GRIB/GRIB2/NETCDF files saved in the your computer.
To open a file or a directory containing multiple files:
1. In **Menu Bar**, choose *Home* menu category.
1. In *Open Data* panel, click *Open File* or *Open Directory*, respectively.
1. In the *Open* dialog box, navigate to the file or the folder that you want to open, and then click *Open* button.
### 2. Using *Variables Pane* to manage variables.
The **Variables Pane** consists of two components: control bar and display area. After opening data files, the **Variables Pane** displays a hierarchical tree structure (*File Name* -> *Category Name* or *Vertical Coordinate System* -> *Variable Name*) of the variables in your data.

By default, the variables are grouped by category and displayed with ID. You can customize the options to display variables as follows:

* You can group variables by clicking *Grouping* button.

# Viewing data with layers (and how to use Layers Pane)
### 1. Adding layers and viewing data
##### Adding layers
After opening data files, you can add layers to the 3D-image in the **Rendering Pane** as follows:
1. In **Menu Bar**, choose *Layer* menu category.
1. In *Add Layer* panel, click the corresponding button with the layer that you want to add.

1. In *Edit [Layer Name] Layer* dialog box, such as *Edit Horizontal Plane Layer*, select the variable you want to show in *Select Variable* panel, set the vertical altitude and map area of the layer in *Area and level to Display* panel and other options, and click *OK* button.

##### Viewing Data
After adding a layer, such as *Horizontal Plane*, **Rendering Pane** displays data of the selected variable on the layer, **Layers Pane** displays the layer name, and **Actions Pane** displays the *Add layer* action entry.

In addition, the program generates one more menu category corresponding to the added layer in **Menu Bar**, such as *Horizontal Plane* menu category.

This new menu category contains two panels.
* *Grid Options* panel contains buttons used to set the properties of the layer grid data to extract from the numerical model data.
* *Style* panel contains buttons used to set the display properties of the added layer.
Note that the name of the added menu category and its ribbon are displayed differently with different added or selected layer (You can select a layer to display on **Rendering Pane** by clicking on that layer in the list in **Layers Pane**).
### 2. Changing variable on the current layer
To display data of another variable on the current layer, you can select that variable in the list (on the **Variables Pane**) and:
* double-click on that variable; or
* click the first button on the control bar, then select *Show on Current Layer*; or
* right-click and select *Show on Current Layer*.
### 3. Layers Management
**Layers Pane** displays the list of layers according to the adding order and shows layer information such as layer properties, style and layer grid.

Each layer item in the list consists of *Show/Hide* checkbox, *Layer Name*, *Lock Time* and *Close* buttons.
The *Layer Name* is created in the following format: %VARIABLE NAME% : %SECTION TYPE% - %VERTICAL SYSTEM%
##### Showing/Hiding layers
* You can show or hide a layer on the **Rendering Pane** by checking or unchecking the *Show/Hide* checkbox.
* You can show all layers or hide all layers in the list by clicking *Show All* or *Hide All* button on the control bar.

The alternative way is to choose *Layer* menu category in **Menu Bar**. In *View* panel, click the *Show* button.
##### Closing layers
* You can close each layer in the list by click the *Close* button.
* You can close all layers by clicking *Close All* button on the control bar.

##### Arranging layers
You can click the *Automatic Z-Order* to set the rendering order of layers added to the **Rendering Pane** based on the distance between the viewpoint and the center position of the layer map area.

The *Background Map* and *Borderlines Map* layers are always rendered first.
When multiple layers are overlapped, the layer with the larger distance from the viewpoint lays under the layer that is closer to the viewpoint. The rendering order determines the transparency (alpha channel) effect.
The alternative way is to choose *Layer* menu category in **Menu Bar**. In *Layer Profile* panel, click the *Automatic Z-Order* button.
##### Saving/Opening layer profile
* You can save the layer list in the current 3-D image in **Rendering Pane** into a layer profile file by clicking *Save* button on the control bar.

The alternative way is to choose *Layer* menu category in **Menu Bar**. In *Layer Profile* panel, click the *Save* button.
* You can load the saved layer list from the layer profile file by clicking *Open* button on the control bar.

# Controlling perspective (and how to use Rendering Pane)

After adding a new layer or selecting a layer from the list, **Rendering Pane** displays the meteorological data in the 3D-image and contains some options for controlling perspective.
### Controlling camera
* **Zoom** : Scroll mouse wheel up/down to zoom in/out. For finer adjustments, scroll with *Ctrl* key pressed.
* **Rotate** : Press and hold left mouse button, and drag.
* **Pan** : Press and hold right mouse button, and drag.
* **Zoom Fit** : Click _Zoom Fit_ menu button in order to return to the default camera position with a zoom level fitted to the entire scene.

### Changing the display mode
In the **Rendering Pane**, the *polar coordinates* is set by default. You can change the display mode from the *polar coordinates* (globe) mode to the *Cartesian coordinates* (map box), or vice versa, as follows.
1. In **Menu Bar**, choose *Home* menu category.
1. In *Map* panel, click the upper part of the *Globe* button to change the display mode.

The alternative way is to click the *Globe* button at the bottom-right corner of the program.

### Showing/Hiding Legend and Color Bar
The *Legend* shows a brief explanation and the colormap of the selected layers.
The *Color Bar* shows the variable names and units of the selected variable.
* You can show or hide the *Legend* and the *Color Bar* as follows.
1. In **Menu Bar**, choose *Home* menu category.
1. In *Map* panel, you can
* click the upper part of the *Legend* button to show or hide the *Legend*; or
* click the lower part of the *Legend* button to show or hide the *Color Bar*.

* You can also show/hide the *Legend* by double-clicking the *Legend*.
### Setting color map and limit range
* You can edit the color map and limit range of the current layer as follows:
1. Double-click the *Color Bar* or the *Limit Range*.
1. In the *Setup Colormap and Limit Range* dialog box, you can customize the options for the layer, and click *OK* button.

* In the *Colormap Range and Levels* panel, you can set options for the layer's colormap.
* In the *Limit Range to Display* panel, you can set the display range of the layer.
* In the *Contour Levels* panel, you can set options for creating isopleths (contour lines) to display Horizontal Plane/Vertical Cross-Section type layers.
* In the *Emphasis Level* panel, you can set the display options to highlight certain lines from the isopleth data to be displayed on the Horizontal Plane/Vertical Cross-Section layer.
Note that the options in the *Contour Levels* panel and the *Emphasis Level* panel are applied only if the selected layer is a scalar (Horizontal Plane/Vertical Cross-Section) layer.
* The alternative way to edit the options for the current layer is as follows:
1. In **Menu Bar**, choose *Home* menu category.
1. In *Layer Setup* panel, you can
* click the upper part of the *Layer Option* button to see the *Setup Colormap and Limit Range* dialog box; or
* click the lower part of the *Layer Option* button to select the detail setup options.

### Right-click
You can right-click the *Legend* or the *Limit Range* to speed up the setting options for the layer.

# Controlling regional boundaries (and how to use Area Pane)

The **Area Pane** shows the map area or cross-section position of the selected layers.
* For *Horizontal Plane* and *Vector Plane* layers, the map area is shown as a rectangle.
* For *Vertical Cross-Section* and *Vector Cross-Section* layers, the cross-section position is shown in a line.
The **Area Pane** shows the whole map, by default. You can control the regional boundary of the map area or the cross-section position as follows.
### Zooming in/out or moving the map area
* You can enlarge or reduce the map area by clicking the **-** or **+** icons at the bottom of the **Area Pane**.
* You can move the map area by clicking the *Left* (**<**), *Right* (**>**), *Up* (**^**), *Down* (**v**) icons.
You can also scroll or drag your mouse to zoom in/out or move the map area.
### Changing the layer position/area
When the mouse cursor is placed on the border line map in the **Area Pane**, it displays the longitude/latitude of the cursor position in the top-right of the **Area Pane**. It also displays the start and end points of the map area or cross-section position as green dots (control handles).
To change the map area or the cross-section position, place the mouse at start and end points (control handles) of the rectangle or the cross-section position, and drag the points to the desired positions.

# Undo & redo (and how to use Actions Pane)
The **Actions Pane** displays the history of actions related to the current selected layer.
If the selected layer is a default layer (background map layer, borderline layer), the **Actions Pane** shows the whole edit history of the **Rendering Pane**. For other types of grid layers, it only shows the edit history of the selected layer.
You can select an action entry in the action list and
* Click the *Undo* button or click the *Up* icon to undo the history entry to the former action entry.
* Click the *Redo* button or click the *Down* icon to redo the history entry to the later action entry.

# Viewing horizontal temperature distribution
> NOTE: This guide can also be applied to the visualization of any scalar field on horizontal planes.

##### 1. Open data file.
Open your data file(s), using _Open Data_ buttons on the _Home_ menu category of _Menu Bar_.
##### 2. Load the temperature variable and show it on a layer.
In order to visualize the distribution of the variable on a layer, you can either
* click the _Add Horizontal Plane_ menu button on _Layer_ menu category, select options, and then click "OK", or
* right-click the temperature variable on the _Variables Pane_, and select _Add Horizontal Plane', or
* double-click the temperature variable on the _Variables Pane_, and click 'OK' to add layer.
_Rendering Pane_ will immediately display the distribution, and a new layer will be added to the _Layers Pane_.
##### 3. Change the visualization style - contour vs. raster (optional).
On _Horizontal Plane_ menu category of _Menu Bar_, you can select one of the following visualization styles:
* Contour : show distribution with discrete iso-level contour lines (optionally with filled colors)
* Raster : show distribution with smoothly filled colors
* Dot : show distribution with colored dots for grid points
Each menu button has drop-down submenu, where you can set various options for each visualization style. For example, you can display character labels (including "H"/"L" for geopotential height) at the peak locations of the distribution.
##### 4. Change the settings for color mapping (optional).
Double click the vertical _Color Bar_ on the right-hand side of _Rendering Pane_. A popup dialog named _'Setup Colormap and Limit Range'_ will show up, where you can change various options regarding the color mapping.
##### 5. Explore temperature distributions at different altitudes (if any).
If your dataset includes wind flow datasets at multiple altitude, you can select a particular height level, or easily change to the next/previous height level.
On _Horizontal Plane_ menu category of _Menu Bar_, you will find _Vertical Level_ drop-down control, where you can select height level among all the levels available in your dataset. You can also click _Move Up / Move Down_ button in order to increase / decrease the selected level.
Also note that, with both reference level and current level selected on _Horizontal Plane_ menu category, you can choose one of visualization options, including the visualizations of current-level-values-only / differences-between / average-of-both.
##### 6. Control the size and location of the plane (optional).
You can control the size and location of the plane by using _Rendering Pane_ only. To do this, you do :
1. switch from _Globe_ mode to _Map_ mode,
2. double-click one of the corners of the plane, to reveal the control handles,
3. drag the control handles to change the size and/or height.

##### 1. Open data file.
Open your data file(s), using _Open Data_ buttons on the _Home_ menu category of _Menu Bar_.
##### 2. Load the temperature variable and show it on a vertical cross-section.
In order to visualize the distribution of the variable on a vertical cross-section, your dataset should include multiple datasets of the same variable at different altitudes. If you indeed have multiple datasets, you can either
* click the _Add Vertical Cross-section_ button on _Layer_ menu category, select options, and then click "OK", or
* right-click the temperature variable on the _Variables Pane_, and select _Add Vertical Cross-section'_.
_Rendering Pane_ will immediately display the distribution, and a new layer will be added to the _Layers Pane_.
##### 3. Change the visualization style - contour vs. raster (optional).
On _Horizontal Plane_ menu category of _Menu Bar_, you can select one of the following visualization styles:
* Contour : show distribution with discrete iso-level contour lines (optionally with filled colors)
* Raster : show distribution with smoothly filled colors
* Dot : show distribution with colored dots for grid points
Each menu button has drop-down submenu, where you can set various options for each visualization style. For example, you can display character labels (including "H"/"L" for geopotential height) at the peak locations of the distribution.
##### 4. Change the settings for color mapping (optional).
Double click the vertical _Color Bar_ on the right-hand side of _Rendering Pane_. A popup dialog named _'Setup Colormap and Limit Range'_ will show up, where you can change various options regarding the color mapping.

##### 5. Explore wind flow at different altitudes (if any).
If your dataset includes wind flow datasets at multiple altitude, you can select a particular height level, or easily change to the next/previous height level.
On _Horizontal Plane_ menu category of _Menu Bar_, you will find _Vertical Level_ drop-down control, where you can select height level among all the levels available in your dataset. You can also click _Move Up / Move Down_ button in order to increase / decrease the selected level.

# Viewing 3D iso-level surface for jet stream

* 3D Slices : show distribution using horizontal and vertical slices
Each menu button has drop-down submenu, where you can set various options for each visualization style.
##### 5. Control slice positions (in _3D Slices_ visualization style only).
In _3D Slices_ visualization style, you have three slices -zonal/meridonal/horizontal slices- , and you can change the location of the slices along latitude/longitude/height respectively. An example is shown in the figure below. To do this, you do:
1. Click the _Globe_ button to change from _Globe_ to _Map_ mode (since it's more convenient to control),
2. Double-click one of the corners of the slices, in order to reveal the handles of the slice,
3. Drag the handle of the slice along the coordinate axes,
4. You may want to go back to _Globe_ mode. (_Globe_ button is at the bottom-right corner of the screen)

# Viewing temporal changes of temperature
> NOTE: Most parts of this guide can also be applied to the visualization of any time-series data.

##### 1. Open data files
Note that you need to open a list of data files at different time stamps to see the change of data over time.
In order to open the list of data files:
1. In **Menu Bar**, choose *Home* menu category.
1. In *Open Data* panel, click *Open File*.
1. In the *Open* dialog box, navigate to the folder containing the list of data files. Press and hold the *Shift* or *Ctrl* buttons while selecting data files. Then click *OK* button.
Note that the **Variables Pane** only displays the first data file in the opened list.
##### 2. Load the temperature data and show it on a layer.
In order to visualize the distribution of the variable on a layer, you can either
* choose *Layer* menu category in **Menu Bar**, then click *Horizontal Plane* in *Add Layer* panel; or
* select and right-click the temperature variable on the **Variables Pane**, then select *Add Horizontal Plane*.
**Rendering Pane** will immediately display the temperature data, and a new layer will be added to the **Layers Pane**. By default, the temperature data will be shown with *Contour* option.
##### 3. Change the visualization style - contour vs. raster vs. dot (optional).
On the *Horizontal Plane* menu category of the **Menu Bar**, you can select one of the following visualization styles in *Style* panel:
* Contour : show distribution with discrete iso-level contour lines (optionally with filled colors)

* select the time stamp in the *Select Time* drop-down list and click the *Previous* or *Next* button manually; or
* click the upper part of the *Play* button and see the change continuously over time. You can also set the time interval and repeat option by clicking the lower part of the *Play* button.

# Saving as images & videos
Mirae WAVE allows you to save the displayed contents in the **Rendering Pane** as images, or record and save your work progress on the **Rendering Pane** as videos.
### Saving as images
You can save the displayed contents in the **Rendering Pane** into an image file as follows.
1. In **Menu Bar**, choose *Window* menu category.
1. In *Save Scene* panel, select the background color and set the width and height of the image . Click the *Save Image* button.

1. In the dialog box, rename or navigate to the folder where you want to save the image, click *Save* button.
### Recording and saving as videos
You can record your work progress on the **Rendering Pane** and save it as a video file as follows.
1. In **Menu Bar**, choose *Window* menu category.
1. In *Save Scene* panel, click the *Start Recording* button. In the drop-down submenu, you can set the frame rate and the size limit of the video file, then select the recording mode.

There are some options for recording modes.
* *Start Recording*: Start recording the 3-D scene to the avi movie file. Note that this option allows you to freely work (add layers, change the variable, etc.) on the **Rendering Pane** while recording.
* *Time Variation*: This option
* *2-D Layer Position*: This
* *Rotating*: Start recording...
1. In the dialog box, rename or navigate to the folder where you want to save the video, click *Save* button.
1. In the *Video....* dialog box, select the compress program(?????), and click *OK* button.
1. If you want to stop recording before the size of the video file reaches the limit size, click *Stop Recording* button (on the right side of *Start Recording* button).
You can check the recording progress by looking at the status bar at the bottom of the program.

# Side-by-side comparison using two windows

### Displaying two windows
In order to add a new window on the **Rendering Pane**:
1. In **Menu Bar**, choose *Window* menu category.
1. In *Window* panel, click *New Window* button.
1. Select the display mode for multiple windows on the **Rendering Pane** by clicking the *Tile Vertically* or *Tile Horizontally* or *Cascade* button on the *Window* panel. You can also display multiple windows as a tab group by clicking the *Tab Group* button. Note that if the *Tab Group* mode is selected, the other display modes are disable.

### Synchronizing 3-D images between two windows
You can compare side-by-side 3-D images between multiple windows and synchronize them by clicking the upper part of the *Synchronize Scenes* button on the *Window* panel (in *Window* menu category). Three synchronizing options (*Data Time*, *Zooming*, *Rotation*) will be activated by default. You can click the lower part of the *Synchronize Scenes* button and customize the synchronizing options in the drop-down submenu.

# How to speed up repeated tasks
Mirae WAVE allows you speed up your work by saving the list of meteorological data layers and the current 3-D image properties in **Rendering Pane** into a layer profile. You can later open and load the saved layer profile onto your new 3-D images. You can also compare different data distributions of different variables by replacing these variables on the same configured layer.
### Saving layer profile
1. In the **Menu Bar**, choose *Layer* menu category. In the *Layer Profile* panel, click the *Save* button.

(The alternative way is to click the *Save* button on the control bar of the **Layer Pane**).
1. In the *Save Layer Profile* dialog box, enter the name of the layer profile, then select the layer and 3-D image's properties that you want to save.

1. You can either click the *Save* button to save the layer profile or click the *Export to* button to save the selected layer profile to a specified file (*.gvl.xml).
### Opening layer profile
1. In the **Menu Bar**, choose *Layer* menu category. In the *Layer Profile* panel, click the *Open* button.

1. In the *Load Layer Profile* dialog box, select the saved layer profile or click *Import from file* button to import from a file, then click the *Load* button.

### Replacing variables with the current layer configuration
After loading the layer profile, you can compare the data distribution of the current selected variable with data distribution of other variables on the same configured layer. In order to display data of another variable, you can select that variable in the list (on the **Variables Pane**) and:
* double-click on that variable; or
* click the first button on the control bar, then select *Show on Current Layer*; or
* right-click and select *Show on Current Layer*.
The data distribution of the new selected variable will be displayed on the same layer configuration in the **Rendering Pane**.
