Controlling perspective (and how to use Rendering Pane)
![](img/3-4-rendering-pane.png)
After adding a new layer or selecting a layer from the list, Rendering Pane displays the meteorological data in the 3D-image and contains some options for controlling perspective. This section also demonstrates how to use options in Scene menu category of the Menu Bar to control the data displaying in Rendering Pane.

Controlling camera
-
Zoom: Scroll mouse wheel up/down to zoom in/out. For finer adjustments, scroll with Ctrl key pressed.
The alternative way is to choose Zoom In/Zoom Out options in the drop-down menu of the Zoom Fit button in the Scene menu category.
-
Rotate: Press and hold left mouse button, and drag manually.
For automatically rotating, click the Rotate button in Scene menu category. You can set speed options and other options in the drop-down menu of the Rotate button. Note that if the option Drag with Right Mouse is checked, you can then pan with the right mouse button and rotate with the left mouse button.
-
Pan: Press and hold right mouse button, and drag.
-
Zoom Fit: Click Zoom Fit button in the Scene menu category in order to return to the default camera position with a zoom level fitted to the entire scene.
-
Viewpoint Position: In the drop-down menu of Viewpoint Position in the Scene menu category, there are different dedicated options for Globe Mode and Map Mode.
-
Globe Mode: You can only set the viewpoint by entering the Latitude and Longitude values in the Latitude Longitude boxes, respectively.
-
Map Mode: To Horizontal Plane, To Zonal Side, To Meridional Side of To Current Layer options are activated. You can also enter the Altitude and Azimuth angles in the Latitude and Longitude boxes, respectively.
-
-
Perspective: This function is only activated if the display mode is Map Mode (perspective projection is always applied for Globe Mode). You can select the FOV value in the drop-down menu of the Perspective button in the Scene menu category.
Changing the display mode (Globe vs. Map)
In the Rendering Pane, the spherical coordinates is set by default. You can change the display mode from the spherical coordinates (Globe Mode) to the Cartesian coordinates (Map Mode), or vice versa, by clicking the Globe button in the Scene menu category.

Collapsing horizontal layers to the ground
This function collapses scalar/vector horizontal layers at any height (any ISBL value) onto the ground surface. If the Collapse to Ground option (in the drop-down menu of the Vertical Scale button in Scene menu category) is checked, the altitude of all the scalar/vector horizontal layers are set to 0.
Setting color map and limit range
-
You can edit the color map and limit range of the current layer as follows:
-
Double-click the Color Bar or the Limit Range.
-
In the Setup Colormap and Limit Range dialog box, you can customize the options for the layer, and click OK button.
- In the Colormap Range and Levels panel, you can set options for the layer's colormap.
- In the Limit Range to Display panel, you can set the display range of the layer.
- In the Contour Levels panel, you can set options for creating isopleths (contour lines) to display Scalar Horizontal/Scalar Cross-section type layers.
- In the Emphasis Level panel, you can set the display options to highlight certain lines from the isopleth data to be displayed on the Scalar Horizontal/Scalar Cross-section layer.
Note that the options in the Contour Levels panel and the Emphasis Level panel are applied only if the selected layer is a scalar (Scalar Horizontal/Scalar Cross-section) layer.
-
Other displaying options
-
Show/hide the Axis/Legend/Color Bar/Compass by clicking the Axis/Legend/Colorbar/Compass buttons, respectively. For more setting options, click the drop-down menu of the Axis, Legend, Colorbar buttons.
